A Christmas Craft Market will be held in Ashill Village Hall on Sunday 30th October from 11am to 4pm. A wide range of goods will be on sale including cards, pictures, fimo figures, jewellery, Indian textiles and re-cycled art for the home. This will be an ideal opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping or perhaps treat yourself to some unusual items.
Last year £55 was donated to Musgrove Hospital New Cancer Unit and £38 to the Village Hall Fund. This year all proceeds from the Tombola, refreshments and table booking fees will go to the Cancer Unit. There is still one table available. Sunday 2nd October at 3pm.Harvest Service. The ladies will be decorating the Church on Saturday morning from 10am. If you have any harvest gifts you can leave them in the Church on Friday afternoon or bring them on Saturday morning. We will be holding our tea and auction at the Ashill Inn after the service by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Rust when all moneys raised from the auction will go to St. Margaret’s Hospice, Taunton.

An exciting CHRISTMAS GIFT SALE will be held by Ashill Toddler Group on Tuesday 30 November from 10.30-12.00 in the Village Hall. Ashill Village Hall will again be the venue for a Christmas Craft Market to be held
on Saturday 30th October from 11.00am to 4.00pm.
A wide range of items suitable for Christmas gifts will be on sale all of which have been hand made, are of high quality and are reasonably priced. The range of goods will include miniature paintings, goats milk soap, clay characters, greetings cards, wood turning, decorative and functional items using recycled materials, home made Christmas puds,satin bags and coathangers, pictures and jewellery.
There will be refreshments and tombola in aid of village hall funds and entry is free.

The Harvest Festival Service. This will be held at 3p.m. on October 10th and tea will be served in the village hall afterwards.

Harvest Supper will be held on the 25th of September, 7 for 7.30p.m. in the barn at Wood Farm, by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Maurice Brunt. Tickets are £6 and will be available from Alan Knight and Maurice Brunt, book now, as they are limited!

Village Hall Ashill residents aged 18 years and over are advised of a meeting to be held regarding the future of their Village Hall. The meeting will be at the Hall on Saturday 18th September at 5.30pm. The purpose of the meeting is to decide the future of the hall by voting for Option 1 or Option 2.
Option 1 To maintain the present hall and add extensions to improve the facilities. Long term to replace the original hall.
Option 2 To build a new hall on a new site using the money gained from selling the present site for development
If you are unable to attend the full meeting, the vote will take place at 6.30pm. Every resident is urged to vote so that a full and representative view of the Parish is achieved.

11th of September is the annual sponsored walk or bike ride held from 10am to 6pm around the local Churches and Chapels. Most of the places are open and providing much needed refreshments. If anyone would like to join in by walking, cycling or welcoming people into the Church, please contact Jo Lea 01460 55453. The money raised is equally split between our Church and the Friends of Somerset Churches & Chapels. Last years sponsors raised £280 for our Church, so lets see what our legs can raise this year!

Craft and Village Life Exhibition at Ashill Baptist Church (Windmill Hill) Saturday 15th May 10.00am-4.00pm. Displays by local people of Spinning Wheel, Clock Repairs, Wood Working, Stained Glass work and others. There will also be an exhibition of village life over the last 150 years including photos, postcards and newspaper cuttings. Entry is free and light refreshments will be served all day.

“Bond Goes To Vegas” on the 15th of May at The Langport Arms Hotel in Langport 7.30 till midnight. Featuring genuine casino games, cabaret and fabulous prizes to be won. We will be having the annual Open House at Higher Barton, Crow Lane (next to Ashill Farm) on Thursday, November 6th this year, from 2pm to 7 pm.
There will be a variety of local craft people here displaying their wares -Raku pottery and mosaics, floral displays, ceramics, jewellery and painted woodpieces. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available and any contributions for this will be donated a local animal sanctuary.

At 7.30 on Thursday 23rd October there will be a talk in the village hall on Norfolk Lavender by David Smale. The talk and video will last approximately 30 minutes with questions answered afterwards. Mr. Smale will bring along a range of products for sale, so this will be a good chance to stock up for Christmas. Sunday 12th October. The Harvest Service will be held at 3.00pm followed by tea and cakes at the Village Hall.

There will be a walking TREASURE HUNT around the village on Saturday 20th September. Starting at the Hall at 2.30pm the hunt should take about an hour and a half, with tea, coffee and cake for the adults and squash for the children. There will be a separate hunt for the under-12s with good prizes for both groups (A bottle of Brut Chardonnay and two children's tickets for the Tropiquaria). Enjoy the fun and discover bits of Ashill you may not have known before.
